Staff of the Week
This page is dedicated to the staff members at ICSU. We will be interviewing one staff member each week and asking them about their life inside and outside of the campus. This will provide a great opportunity for both students and parents to get to know the faculty who serve God's purposes at our school.
This week we are featuring Mr. Olling.
Mr. Brian Olling
It was our very own Mr. Olling who was named the “Staff of the Week” this time!. Mr. Olling was born in April 13th, 1964, and is currently 54 years old. Mr. Olling has worked as a ICSU faculty member for the past 30 years, and came to ICS as one of its first staff members because of a calling from God. Mr. Olling had a history of training hard to participate in the Olympics. When asked about his experience, he stated his schedule every day went something like this: he would wake up at 6 o’clock in the morning, run for 4 miles, teach at his school, run another 13 miles after school. He also said that he would often would run 27 miles on the weekends and spend an hour in the weight room every day. Mr. Olling’s most vivid memory during his missions is when his mission group bought a boat to reach a tribe in the jungle. After successfully converting 30 people, he found himself being visited by the same 30 the next year. When Mr. Olling first came to ICS, he says that the school was separated into 5 buildings. When he was asked for advice for the volleyball team and the other sports teams, he said, “It takes dedication to succeed and being successful doesn’t mean you win. It means you gave it your best. You do all of it to glorify God.” If God didn’t call him to become a teacher, he says he would have become a professional cross country coach.
