Staff of the Week
Apr. 1, 2019
This week, Mrs. Forster from our school office was interviewed as our Staff of the Week. She is our first office staff interviewee, and it was quite interesting to hear about her work and routines. Mrs. Forster carefully and patiently answered the questions as she picked up a phone call or two in between the interview the process. When I asked what she liked the most about her job, she replied, “I like giving students detention slips. No, that’s a joke, but I like talking to the students every day.” She cherishes spending time with the students. On the other hand, there were definitely some things that cause her stress and worry, such as complaints from parents and excessive workloads. However, she said she found a way to relieve that stress, which is through swimming. She stated, “I don’t have to talk to people when I swim. I’m just in the water. At school, I have to talk to parents and teachers. At home, my kids are always talking to me. But, when I swim, it’s just quiet.,” she said.
Additionally, she sharedtold with me about her daily job in the office, which comprises ofwas recording financial activity, making phone calls, and resolving minor issues within our classrooms. Aside from all of her other roles, her major work iswas connecting the local community with our school, especially since some of the staff here struggle with the language barrier. Lastly, some aspects of ICSU she admires are that it is a missionary school and that the students here can get a biblical education outside of the church. She also mentioned that the teachers here are good examples for the students to follow after, which I agreed with as well. Though Mrs. Forster might not teach in a classroom, she works hard each day behind the scene to make our school better for the students, teachers, and parents.
