From January 14th to 18th was Spiritual Emphasis Week at ICSU; students and staffs had chapel every day, supplemented by short discussion times in small groups, helping us to better understand God.

Spiritual emphasis week helped a lot of students and teachers to build a closer relationship with God, thanks to the visitors who came to ICSU to spread the words of God.

Mr. Miller, our very own Bible teacher, introduced us to Spiritual Emphasis Week on Monday. The purpose of Spiritual Emphasis Week is to “help everybody to focus on God more than normal, and to have personal quiet time.” Daily discussions in small groups helped many students and teachers to learn about theology in depth and focus solely on God.

This year’s theme for Spiritual Emphasis Week was “[t]he uniqueness and power of Jesus Christ. ICSU staff members [hoped] and [prayed] that students could turn to our Lord Jesus Christ.  Also, [we] hope that Christian students will be challenged and revived spiritually,” according to Mr. Miller. He mentioned that there are many students who are Christians who don’t act like a Christian. For this reason, he claimed that it is a perfect time to get closer with God and have a personal relationship with Him.

When asked how to strengthen our faith, Mr. Miller responded that “ [t]he daily worship in chapel should help encourage and strengthen us in our faith. Daily prayer and Bible reading along with regular attendance at a Christian Church will help to strengthen us in the Lord.” He said that it’s extremely important to stay in touch with God throughout daily devotions and reading scriptures.

Thankfully, many of the students enjoyed Spiritual Emphasis Week. One of the students from 8th grade, Keaira Richardson, told us that “[she] appreciate[s] this week, because [she] get[s] to learn new things about God and the true meaning for us.” Throughout this week, students learned the most important message of all: God is the one who wants a solid relationship with us the most.

What a great opportunity for both students and teachers to know more about God!
