the secret to webtoons
November 2, 2018
Line Webtoon is an app and website that has many different kinds of webcomics, and was officially launched as ‘Naver Webtoon’ in Korea . It was globally launched as Line Webtoon in July, 2014. The portal has many different genres of webtoons, and seven to ten kinds of these webtoons are updated everyday. More than 10 million people use the app or website everyday and several webtoons receive 5 million views per week. This amazing online portal was found by JunKoo Kim in 2005. He grew up reading Japanese manga and Korean superhero comics, and he was looking for a way to get new comics created because he realized that there were fewer and fewer new comics coming out as books.
Kim theorized that scrollable comics would work well on the Internet, because users were already used to scrolling through the many web pages they see and go through. Because of this unusual layout, Kim initially had difficulty finding artists to create webtoons on his service, but as time proceeded he found out that the manhwagas (people who draw comics in Korea) were willing to do something different because of the poor state of the local manhwa industry. They started off by translating the selected 49 Korean webtoons and a few comics from American artists. Naver also partnered with many famous people including, Stan Lee - a US comics veteran - Image Comics co-founder Marc Silvestri, and make-up artist Michelle Phan to advertise the platform. This amazing comic portal has many different kinds of webtoons you can enjoy. You just have to either download the app or go on the site.
