The Friend in the Big Friendly Giant
Meet Cobey Thomas, an adult suffering from autism with the staggering height of 7 feet. Due to his mental condition, Cobey was unable to acquire a job, nor graduate from school, living with his mother Jennifer Thomas. If there was one thing that Cobey liked to do, it was to swing on the local swing set. This was Thomas’ favorite pastime, until his mother started to notice the numerous scratches and bruises on her son’s legs. Since Cobey was 7 feet tall, the local swing sets were simply too low for the fully grown giant. However, Thomas used the playground equipment anyway, thus leading to the multiple wounds on his legs. This continued for some time until Allen Ellison from a home repair service called Mr. Handyman finally took a first step for Cobey. Ellison made a personalized swing set for Cobey in backyard of his house, which could sustain his staggering height. Most of all, Ellison did this act free of charge! When asked about her feelings toward the situation, Jennifer Thomas said “[It was] just amazing… he [Ellison] restored my faith. Let’s put it that way.”
The luckiest penny to ever exist
War is hell. You might have heard that before. Such quote can be so basic and simple… yet so true. Let’s take a look at WW1, one of the bloodiest conflicts in world history. This was the time of the flamethrowers and the use of poisonous gases. Soldiers huddled in unsanitary trenches for days at a time, just well knowing that the next enemy bullet could take their head clean off. Such hellish times could just prove that miracles really do happen. Take a look at John Trickett, a Private fighting on the French frontlines in 1914. During his battle of life and death, Trickett was hit by a small caliber bullet, most likely by a pistol in the chest. However, Trickett’s time must’ve not been up yet, since the bullet magically bounced off his body. It was later found out that it was a penny that he kept in his breast pocket to remind him of home. The odds of this happening were staggering, first of all, the bullet had to hit something as small as a penny. Second, it had to be a caliber small enough to not penetrate through the thin metal. Anyways, Trickett survived the rest of the Great War and came back home, alive but not unscathed as he became half deaf after the bullet ricochet off his lucky penny and nearly missed his ear. What’s more, Trickett’s other two brothers died during the war, making him the only surviving member in the family bloodline. It’s amazing to think that a whole family was saved by the grace of God… and a lucky penny.
An 8 year old girl named Kylie Brown received a duck from her parents. The duck immediately was attached to the girl and would follow her everywhere she went. Which was originally a problem because the family wasn’t fond of having a duck making messes in their house. So they came to a valid conclusion to put a diaper on the duck. This made the duck be able to live with the family without making an unwanted mess in the house. Kylie and Snowflake are currently involved in therapy and use their unique relationship to inspire others.
